This centrally-located upmarket, atmospheric and long established restaurant comes complete with chefs from the sub-continent and waiters in cummerbunds and tuxedos. The decor is traditional Indian restaurant style--heavy wallpaper and elaborate fitting--but without the kitsch. Ashoka serves spicy tandoori chicken and filling thali set meals along with Indian beers or delicious lassi. Courses are not cheap, but they are good value at JPY3,000
