The hotel was consistently clean and comfortable; it's well located with easy access to public transportation, shopping, and restaraunts. The amenities were nice, and the rooms were cool and relaxing. The hotel staff were not the friendliest I've encountered in Japan, but they're still far better than what you might find stateside. They were very helpful as far as helping us schedule an English-language sightseeing tour. Overall, a nice place to stay on holiday.

You will receive the red carpet treatment at the door and all the way to the room. Rooms are clean and spacious for Japanese standards. But.... DSL outlets available in all rooms but work only in a few. Hotel has an ancient ambiance and is not for the young or the business traveler. I moved to the Mitsui Garden after two nights.

If you go to the Tourist Center that is located in the Kyoto train station, they will call and reserve a room for you at a discounted rate. I was able to get a good size room with 2 beds in it for about $70 a night. There are some restaurants located in the hotel, beautiful fountains, massage service, and room service. The staff is also very friendly and helpful. They have plug adapters at the reservation desk so that you can plug computers and other things into the standard Japanese outlets. There is also internet ports in the room which is very convenient. I'm actually typing this review from my hotel room right now. I highly recommend that you give this hotel a try. A+
